The Live Turtle & Tortoise Museum

The Live Turtle & Tortoise Museum

There is a Live Turtle & Tortoise Museum in Chinese Garden. Unbeknownst to many, there is an exhibit of live turtles and tortoise situated near the heartland of Jurong estate. Entry fee is reasonably priced at $5 per person.

Directions: The museum is situated at the back of Chinese Garden. Walk straight out from the station all the way and take a right turn at the entrance and continue all the way. Once you see a stone huge wall, you are at the right place.

The first 3 enclosures by the entrance:

You can get pellet feeds or vegetables. Vegetables are at $2 per bunch. Apparently, turtles are unable to differentiate food and fingers.

It can be quite intimidating to be holding feeds, unless being swarmed by roaming turtles is your idea of fun.

It started pouring 5 minutes into our visit. We have nowhere to seek shelter except under a small beach umbrella. Unfortunately, most of the museum are unsheltered.

Seeking shelter in this little guy's enclosure.

The sheltered part of the museum is lined with tanks filled with turtles and tortoises of assorted breeds.

A room with turtle and tortoise artifacts?

Overall:
I guess that sums our short, wet day trip for the week. I would say it has been a pleasant experience despite the bad weather. If you like turtles, this is the place for you. Even though the museum is relatively small and basic, it's good to see that the reptiles have been well taken care of. We were actually expecting more breeds than we see. The place is undergoing renovations soon so it would be wise to do a check before heading down. Can't wait to see it after going through revamps!
